The handbook is the U.S. government's premier publication on careers, providing information about changes in the world of work and the qualifications that will be needed by tomorrow's workers.

 

Job Openings

America's Job Bank
A service of the U.S. Dept. of Labor, this site connects both state employment offices and thousands of job openings nationwide from professional to clerical.
CareerBuilder
Search job ads placed in major newspapers across the U.S. in the last two weeks. Remember that classified ads traditionally are not the most effective way to find job openings, nor are they usually targeted to entry-level job seekers.
Federal Jobs Digest
Thousands of jobs with the federal government listed in 17 broad categories. Register your resume online for federal employers to browse.
Fed World
The U.S. government's official job announcements site from the Office of Personnel Management, updated daily. Many federal agencies also list job openings on their individual web sites.
Job Bank USA
Specializes in providing job and resume services to job candidates, employers, and recruitment firms in the U.S. and worldwide.
Military Career Guide Online
Describes training, advancement, and educational opportunities within each of the five mililtary branches. Includes details of over 150 military occupations.
Tennessee Employment and Opportunities

Peterson's Education Center
Useful for researching graduate school programs, including links to schools and programs. Also included is information on graduate programs at foreign universities.
Graduate School Rankings
From U.S. News & World Report, the annual rankings. Professionals debate their value, but students love them--use with caution.
GRE Online
Contains information about GRE test dates and answers questions about the electronic version of the test.
MBA.com
From the Graduate Management Admission Council, features information about applying to graduate business school and financing an MBA. You can register for the GMAT and review more than 400 graduate management programs.
Law School Admissions Council
Has links to all law school programs with websites, plus Law School Forum dates and electronic registration for the LSAT.
AAMC Website
Comprehensive site including information on medical schools, the Association of American Medical Colleges, and applicant information.
